This project was part of a Critical Media design class. Students were asked to research everyday-life products that were not as harmless as advertised.
I decided to look for data on beauty and personal care products geared towards women. Mainly, I focused on makeup products given that some of thier ingredients have been linked to hormone disruption and neurotoxicity; the prolonged exposure to these chemicals might result in different health issues, including cancer. In a society that continually pushes people towards beauty standards, sometimes even as a requirement for specific work environments, this issue becomes especially relevant. This project intends to question what we put on our skin, through the branding and use of makeup products as laboratory chemicals.
